6x9's on a '00 GP SE
Was wondering if there are any instructions on how to take the OEM 6x9's out, or am I better off having a set installed for me?

Do you have two sets of speakers in the rear deck? If you do they are usually 5 1/4. Now taking the speakers out is kind of hard because u have to take the rear seats out and then pry up the rear deck to pull out the speakers. Now if you have the four speakers in the back they might have a factory crossover because u only get low pass out of the 6x9's and high pass out of the 5 1/4's. check it out and let me know I can get u the doc's.

2 Speakers, not "Special" enough for 4 speakers.

If i were you i'd buy from a place that does their own installations. It's easier and they guarantee their work. BTW, your rear speakers are 6x9". The 5 1/4" are for the doors, and I think the optional 2 in the rear are 4". Good luck.

1. Take out the lower part of the rear seat by way of the two clips on either side. 2. remove bolts holding the upper seat back in place - remove it. 3. remove the carpeting panel over the 6x9 mounts. be very carefull its easy to tear the cheap panel and break the clips. 4. remove each panel holding the 6x9s in place, theres a clip on the trunk side that must be released. 5. unscrew the speakers, i suggest you use adapter plugs as to preserve the factory wiring, however since the speakers are so hard to get to its almost certain you will never put the factory ones back so save the 10$. 6. put it all back together.

Im the anti-do-it-yourselfer and I had no problem removing the 6X9s, you just have to get over the fact that you are taking out the seats. Really quick here, i will sum it up for ya. The rear seats, the actuall part your ass is on is removed by pulling on a plastic "zip cord" ring that would normally be where your calves would face if you were sitting down in the actually seat. you pull them out and the part of the back seat where your back rest is held in place by some bolts you can ratchet out. Took me like 5 minutes to remove the seats and about 45 to install the actuall speakers and hook up wires. Trust me, removing and installing the new speakers is a lot more time consuming then removing the seats
