Turbonado

Hello Every body,
I am French from PARIS and I am very happy to own a Blazer LT 4,3l
4doors, 4wd. with a Borla cat back exhaust and a K&N replacement filter. After all what I have read there I will change the thermostat for a Stant 180°F ref. 45119 one and change the radiator cap for a Stant 10230. All the rest will stay stock.
I am very interested by your forum because there are few Blazer in France (I think less than 700) and in France we have no information sources like yours.

Now I just want to share with you my experience with the Turbonado.
Because of the price of the fuel in France ( 1,1 dollar per liter!) I am seaching for all possibilities of saving fuel and I was ready to try with the Turbonado.
I have purchased one from e-BAY and tried to install it yesterday .
Impossible to find a correct place for it in air pipes, from the air box to the cover of the throttle.....
No place between air box and air flow sensor,
no place before or after the air temperature sensor (to large to be introduced in even after putting off the sensor,
no possibility before the plastic part covering the throttle air pipe is turning and do'nt let enough place for the steel piece.....

My personnal conclusion is that the Turbonador does not fit with that model as announced in their advertizing.

Has anybody have the same expetrience or some tips to install it?

Best regards from France!

Thanks for the answer.
With such an experience I have discovered that it's a scam.....
And with your confirmation It's sure that I will not try to install it again
Have a nice week-end with your Blazer.

Blazer LT you will be welcome.
Let me be informed by e-mail of your exact coming ([email protected]) . If possible we may organize a meeting around a drink!
Are you coming to Paris or travelling all around France to test all our specialities !
Perhaps you may invite all your friends having Blazer for a big Blazer show under Eiffel Tower
Yesterday I have ordered from Rock Auto the radiator cap and thermostat. Concerning thermostat I am not totaly sure to have a 180°F
because the stant n0 14119 his indicated sometime as a 180°F and other time as a regular 195°F. Will see and if necessary I will order a Hypertec 180°F to be sure.
Regards.

Re: Turbonado

I am sorry to hear that you have to order from RockAuto.com. They are a very good place locally, but international shipping is expensive. You probably paid $75 for $7 worth of parts.

I believe the Stant 14119 is a 192/195°F thermostat. 195°F or 180°F are okay for your Blazer, but do not use a 160°F thermostat, they will cause accelerated engine wear.

It is good that you will not use the turbonado. I have heard that they can come a part and cause engine damage.

We will be in Paris from June 1st to the 4th, then travelling up to Normandy for two days and then we are travalling to the south of France in Arles for the remainder.

BTW, you thermostat is probably a ranf thermostat which means it will open between 180 and 195f.

Perfect choice really, just don't install a 160.

Thanks to Blazee to take care of my money!
But Rock Auto is not very expensive for shipping costs; for 2 radiator caps and a thermostat I have paied 17 US$ for US Mail parcel.
and with the exchange rate between $ and Euro (1Euro= 1,3 $) and the low price of spares in US it's reasonnable on a economic point of view.
For example I have got my Borla cat-back Exhaust from AJUSA and shipping was 270$. All included it was the same price than the stock cat back for a stainless steel performance exhaust.
The only thing is that I choice suppliers acceptin the "PayPal" paiement system.
I will certainly do the same when it will be time for shocks and import Edelbrock IAS shock absorbers or for performance brake pads (ceramic and carbon or for cross drilled and slotted brake rotors, K&N replacement air and oil filters and for a Sherwood real wood dash trim kit......
We do not have such spares in France and compared to the stock ones It cost around 10% more versus stock. So to have good / better parts it is acceptable......
But I am looking to with one of my French friend having a restaurant in Paso Robles how he may pick up with him the spares. He comes to France every 3/4 months.
To be in France and to have the pleasure of owning a Blazer is not always easy but it's such a great car!
Regards for all of you.
