Import Showdown!

My Prelude caught fire! Oh well i saved most of it. The engine is fine but the wiring is toast. My plans are 2 stick a 5.0 in this thing with a T5 or C6 and an 8.8 rear end. Whatdda think? I wanna show these ricers up with a mustang motor. 4 a while i plan 2 b a sleeper. then ill put a "powered by ford" sticker on it. Then rice the shit out of it just 4 fun.

Re: Import Showdown!

Sounds like a sweet project, but it'll probably use lots of money and time. I'd say take it to a shop and see if they'll sponsor you or give you discounts on parts and know-how. Get buddy-buddy with a mechanic. It'll make it much easier.

I am converting one of my GTRs, but I am going to use the GTR's drive shaft and back.

Plust like what dampachi mentiond, how are you going to run the rear with no drive shaft tunnel?

By the way Cobra01TT, nice looking car, what are the specs?

We looked it over and were gunna cut the floorpan on the center and pound the firewall in with a BFH (big f-in hammer) and use sheet aluminum to mold the floorpan around it. the hardest part is mounting the motor mounts. Even the rear axle i want to use will fit with little modification. I heard from one of my friends on the East coast that his friend has done it and hes shattered the windows or at least cracked them from launching it on the track. i dont plan to do this though. would b funny 2 c. I cant wait!

Re: Import Showdown!

although i don't agree wiht a mustang motor in a import i'll still give advise... don't use a c-6, those are mainly for truck use,, use a c-4 lighter and quicker, i have a buddy with a built c-4 if you ar eklooking for one, i would personaly go with a t-5 and just use an 8.8 out of any stang. your gonna have to have a custom driveshaft built and probably modify the floor because it won't have a tranny tunnel. and have fun putting an exhaust on that thing....

You have a right to your opinion, thats cool.

I like the way my GTR/GTSt handles, and its layout, driving position, looks, steering wheel position, weight, trunk space, interior, factory aluminum hood and front 1/4 panels, etc. But I love the Ford windsor power plants, and Ford trannies. Plus its a hell of lot cheaper to build power with a V8, over any of the import engines, and turboed V8s sound cool. It really will turns peoples heads when they will see a GTR, and have a V8 rumble come out of it.

I see nothing wrong with it, but that is my opinion

Re: Import Showdown!

see my future goal is a fiero with a 331 stroked and turboed motor. Somewhat import look wiht out leaving the american trend. that way down the road.. righ tnow i'm going to finish my 95 GTS mustang (runs low 13 on motor and building a new one with a 250 shot or twin turbos) and then i don't know what's next. i've had everything from a 11 second 81 CHEVETTE (sb 350, muncie, ford 9", caged, tubed streetable), to having 8 stangs now. i'm an asian kid wiht a big american muscle car love... i've seen some nice imorts, but my imports go looks then speed. why look fats and furiuos when you not. fast first looks later. i sold a cobra r hood and a shinoda boss wing and a cobra front bumper off my car when i got it to take it to the stock look and dump all the money into go fast parts... I'm in ohio so most imports are all look, maybe this is were i get my bad opinion on them.. Thanks later

Oh i know about the cutting. Ya that and the BFH will be fun. I was more in the T5 side since i have a grenaded one already, and i dont have 2 run coolant lines. The whole motivation is the fact that we americans havent sold our lives to Japanese imports!

Hmm.....Ford engine in a chevy, but a Ford engine in a honda is just bad? Weird. Why a 331? How about a 347? They are better. Over here the big coffee cans are the first mod. then intake. then looks and they are done. or like all common ricer builders: buy a B18 and run it all motor with open header and try to smoke a stang. lol. it aint worth their money. cool, but not the fastest. turbo B18's on the other hand, are freakin fast!

Re: Import Showdown!

Good Luck with your project. There is nothing more I would like to see than the look on the faces of the rice boys when you roll up in a ford powered prelude. AWESOME

Re: Import Showdown!

although mixing a mustang motor in with an import car is completely ridiculous to me, it will be a one of a kind car. and thats gotta get some respect. good luck converting it though.

Its been measured and overlooked a few times now, and it looks like a start. Plus a buddy of mine knows a guy who converted a 1991 Honda Accord, (i think it came with a H22) maybe a B20 if not. And he put a chev 350 in it. It went pretty damn fast. He had 2 move the batt, and a few other things 2 the trunk to make it fit. But my job will be easier since its a smaller engine so there will be more room. Now i just need 2 find time, cause once i start the project, i wont stop!
