Newbie here......I know this is a BMW forum but please give a young man advice.....
I have a choice to either get a 1994 3000gt (not vr4) 117,000 red..... it has a new transmission, new timing belt and the owner says it runs like new..... or 1993 325is coupe 125,000 and he says there is nothing wrong with the car and has all records..... both of the Bodys look good..... this might seem crazy but i'm not going to pay full coverage on none of these cars (too much) both are about the same price, 3000gt is about $400 more..... i'm 23 and the 3000gt has been my dream car since i was younger but now that i'm older i have to decide which will run better in the long run..... for the past few years i have been attracted to the 325is 1992 and up.....and i have seen these cars run for more than 200,000 miles where as I have not seen too many 3000gt run that long..... I know some(family and friends) might ask..... "why are u buying these cars if u can't afford to maintain them" well, i like to spoil myself.... don't look at me funny but I don't plan on racing either of these cars, just to drive around and look nice (I have too many speeding tickets ie why i don't plan on getting full coverage) thankx everyone |

Re: 3000gt or 325is..... need help
the 325is . . . there are a lot of DIY site to help you on repairs . . . and since this guy has all the paper and maintance records . . . you will love the BMW . . . trust me ! !
I know people that have close to or over 300,000 mile on them and you too will be saying . . . "BMW is there anything else?"

Re: 3000gt or 325is..... need help
If you have wanted a 3000 gt since you were younger, get that! Also i think the mitsubishi will take less maintance then the BEM, or at least if it needs it, it will be much cheaper. But this advice is comming from a japanese car fan

Re: 3000gt or 325is..... need help
In the long run the BMW will be better. My '89 325i has 226K miles on it and it runs perfect. I'm hoping to take it to 300K+. One thing is for sure, the german auto makers know how to make cars last! I also have an '84 rabbit convertible with 170K and it runs perfect as well. As long as you take care of it, you'll have no problems. As for the mitubishi, it will last for a bit. But I wouldn't feel confident with it after it hits 150K. Unless you take extremely good care of it. But you said the owner of the bmw has all the records. You know that's been taken care of!
