89 S10 Blazer transfer switch connections

Hey now, I'm a Blazer newbie, got a question or two, if someone would be so kind.

1. Can someone tell me what vacuum hose goes where on the 4x4 switch on the transfer case? I had a freind work on the car and he moved tnehm. Needless to say, he'll never work on it again. I went to the Chevy dealership and they told me the following: Of the two that are close to the case itself, the one in front goes to the diaphram under the battery, the one behind it goes to manifold vacuum someplace, and the third is left hanging as a vent.

2, As a result of my freind messing with the vacuum connections, I drove for about 10 miles on the freeway in 4x4. I have 2 different size tires on the truck (front and back), and I am sure that that is what caused the howling that I heard over my stereo. The howling went away after I disconnected the hoses, but now I hear a noise that sounds much like a thrown rod, except quiter. It sounds as though it coming from the crankcase, but I cant say positively until tomorrow when I can get a better look/listen.

3. I would ask a qusetion about rough shifting, but I searched on it already, and don't want my head bitten off over my first post.

too tough?

Gee after looking at all of the complicated issues that you guys were helping others with, I thought that this question would be easy for somebody. If it's too hard maybe I'll look elsewhere.

Re: 89 S10 Blazer transfer switch connections

from what i have experienced you seem to have the hoses figured out.

I have the same year blazer and after replacing the engine noticed that my front drive shaft was engaged all the time (in 4x4) Did some looking and found that the hoses were connected incorrectly to my t case.

But the three hoses on mine were all grouped together and I found that there was a notch on the piese that hold them in a triangle shape that corresponded to a lump on the t case. If you line those up all seems to be fine. At one point i temporarly disconnected them all and it dissengaged the front end so i could drive on the highway

I saw that notch, or key. The problem is that he pulled the hoses off of the connector and I don't know which one goes where.
