Hard shift 1st to 2nd gear
Hello,
I've had a new engine dropped in to my 98 Trans Sport. The transaxle was rebuilt 20,000 miles back when the old engine was still in. When I got the van back, I noticed a hard or jerk shift between 1st and 2nd gear. It's smooth the rest of the shift cycle. What's strange to me is the first 2 shift series from a cold engine are o.k. then a half mile down the road it shifts hard again. The mechanic said putting a new motor in would have nothing to do with the tranaxle however the problem wasn't there before the rebuild. Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong? Thanks, Bob

may want to pull the accumulators out ,,,,,check if springs are broken
replace the o ring seals AND polish the bores with a piece of SCOTCH-BRIGHT,,,,,unless the trans was a re-man,,,,this is over-looked in some tranny shops [email protected]
