Unhappy 02 Suburban Will Not Start

My wife has a 02 Suburban that within the last couple of days has hesitated a little bit during startup. I didnt think about it too much because it wasnt that noticeable and it only happened the last few times we started the vehicle. However, wouldn't you know it as soon as I go out of town on a job my wife calls and tells me that the truck will not start. The truck turns over fine so it doesn't seem to be something easy like the battery, starter, alternator. Of course I am still out of town so I dont have the truck in front of me to look at. Does anyone here have any ideas about what might be wrong? She has pretty good mechanical sense I would like to tell her some things to check until i can make it home. I just hope that it is not something expensive or weird.

Re: 02 Suburban Will Not Start

I asked her to turn the key to the on position and see if she heard the fuel pump humm. She said that she heard it, but I dont know if that is sufficient to tell if it is working properly.

You said that the fuel injectors might not be working. I don't really have any experience with fuel injectors. Do you think that the injectors would just suddenly stop working?

We had this problem a year ago and had to replace the fuel pump. Then just this week my wife went out and tried to start the suv. And nothing. Her fuel gage was reading between 1/4 and 1/2. We tried to jump start it with no luck. We had it towed to a local dealer. Who said the suv was out of gas. It seems that the fuel tank is not reading properly. This might be your issue. There is a TSB out about it according to the dealer who replaced the fuel pump last year.
