Suspension Comments... TEIN or Air Ride ?

I've been playing around with the idea for quite some time now.
I want either the TEIN Flex coilovers, or a nice setup with air ride technologies air struts.

Has anyone ever used, or have any experience with either ?

I saw this show on the Speed Channel, that actually prooved that air struts handle better than a nice set of 1 peice coilovers. And well, thats what I'm after the absolute best ride.

y

Because coilover sleeves SUCK ass for ride quality.

I'm sure there are full coilovers made for a civic besides Tein that you can blow a lot of money on. But everybody seems to think Tein Flex are the best. There is a dude here at work who drives an autotragic late model Prelude with a muffler who just bought a set of Tein Flex and they've been sitting in his office for quite some time now. Your car is really sweet so I can see the reasoning behind the quality you want, but this dude is just showing us all he's making bills...

Tein is over rated, and if your going for performance your not going to like air (weither it be cans or bags.. expecially bags).

It all depends what you do with the car. If it's more for show go for air. You can get a damn good ride with normal lowering springs and good struts. Like I always suggest H&R springs with Koni yellows.

Are you doing for looks or performance?
Do you need adjustable height?
How much are you willing to spend?

How much does a set up like this run? Is there an alternative to the yellows?

Re: Suspension Comments... TEIN or Air Ride ?

I have H&R's on Tokico Illumina's and I love them, I would recommed them any day. You can also adjust understeer and oversteer by stiffening or loosening the dampening level of the strut. Poly bushings also help your suspension full travel w/o the "binding" of the stock rubber bushings. Stock bushings are bonded to the metal sleeve which causes it to bind up and distort the alignment of suspension components under load.

If your talking about dagoEF's post that information is dead on.

turtlecrxsi there are always Tokico Illuminas & KYB AGX's. I use AGX's on my car and can't complain, i might complain a little if i hit the track more often but that hasn't happened lately.

H&R's usually run about $150
Yellows usually run about $500-$550 Yellows do have adjustable spring perches similar to true coilovers but they only allow 15-25mm of adjustment, enough for fine tuning. The key to adjustable height is the adjustment built into the strut not a sleeve between the strut's spring perch and spring. I will say Ground Control sleeves on Koni yellows is a nice setup if you want more height adjustment, but for the same money you could buy an entry level true coilover setup. Personally I'd rather have adjustable damping than adjustable height for a street car if one or the other was an option.

Keep in mind a good setup isn't cheap.
