overheating

I got my radiator placed about 4 months ago and ever since then about once a month my coolant light comes on and i need to add just a little bit of coolant to fill to the top. Now the other day i was sitting in park at taco bell and all of a sudden i noticed there was smoke coming out of my car and i looked at the temp gauge and it was passed the half mark. My fan didnt kick on or anything and i tried puttin the AC on and my fan didnt kick on for that either. Any ideas of what this could be before i put too much money into this car? (96 sc2) Thanx

Re: overheating

try the A/C to control the fan again with the engine cool.if then it still doesn't work, check the following.

1. cooling fan pluged in(two wires should be attached to the center)
2. cooling fan fuse
3. cooling fan relay(swap with another relay)
4. cooling fan not seized(move it by hand).

also, check the radiator hoses for slow leaks.

BTW, have you ever replaced the ECT?

Re: Re: overheating

thanks i figured it out ..well sort of. I took out all the fuses(just in case) and checked them and none of them were blown so i figured ok well its not the fuse then but just for the hell of it i went and turned my car on and turned the AC on and the fan kicked in so maybe one of the fuses wasnt in all the way or something. But i still have a leakage problem with my coolant..a very small leak. but thanx alot
