1998 jetta glx window problem

I just bought a 98 jetta glx and it has a few problems, one of which is my rear left window will roll down by the button but will not roll back up. and, I can move the window with my hand. any suggestions on how to fix it? I can hear the motor but the window just wont move.

The door panel will have to come off, probably a broken clip on the regulator.

I had the same problem with my 97 GLX, I ended up having to change my window regulator, the clip had broke, which over time bent the regulator.

Re: Re: 1998 jetta glx window problem

The list price from VW for the regulator was 86.60, I got it for 69.28 (The parts guy thinks I'm hot, so I get discounts in the parts ept.). I took it to a glass place, they installed for 40, VW wanted to charge 150. Too bad a woman works in the service counter.
