I just got an 88 1500 stepside 350/700r4 I think. The tranny was rebuilt about 2 years ago by the reciept I found in the glovebox. It shifts quite firmly under almost any circumstance, But my question is this, Is there any way to make the shift points higher? it doesn't rev very high in first, or second, even with my foot buried in it. I've never owned a full size chevy truck before, so any help and hints would be appreciated, oh by the way it has short headers, and 32x11.50 tires on it if that makes a difference. thanks

Re: 700R4 shifting question
I don't belive these are adjustable. I have had mine out 3 times and have never had to adjust it or found the spot were it adjusts. These are somewhat computer opperated. I am not a trans man so I don't really know a whole lot.

Re: 700R4 shifting question
Your TV cabel should be realy firm at full throtle! The cabel adjust the pressure within the transmission, if this cabel is not firm, the pressur are wrong, and you wil burn your clutches very fast! If the wire is firm at full throttel, i would recomend you to go to a dealer and get them to change the springs on your guvenour! they might be broken or have wrong stiffnes for your gear ratio!
Sorry for the bad English :-) |

Re: Re: 700R4 shifting question
can I get the springs from somewhere and put a different one in, and does anyone know how hard or how involved this would be?

Re: 700R4 shifting question
The gouvernor are placed on the rear left side of your transmission, it is rather easy to take out, and it might just be stuck in open position. You wil find it behind a round lid!
