Question Mustang vs Eclipse

I know this isn't that important but i felt i should ask. I just got my first car about 7 months ago and it's a 2000 v6 automatic mustang. My dad surprised me with the car. I wanted a gt but i'm only 17 so i couldn't afford the car or the insurance. Anywayz the car came already had borla dual exhausts, headers, and something called plasma ignition solution and nology hot wires. I don't know if the last two thing actually help. I later bought a Mac cold air intake. I haven't done much too but i'm planning on doing it. It also has a 2 inch drop. Well my cousin said we should race. He has an 96 eclipse rs or gs or somthing. It's a v4 with exhaust, cold air intake, and headers. He also has a sound system so that might add wieght. SO Who do you guys think will win. I'm just asking for an opinion.

Re: Mustang vs Eclipse

Ask your dad, then tell us what he thinks.

Does the Eclipse have a turbo? If so, I would take the Eclipse.

Re: Mustang vs Eclipse

V6's are pretty slow, and that dual exhaust isn't really going to do you much good, just adding extra weight, you're not pushing enough air as it is. Eclipsi aren't too fast either, especially if it's not even a GST. I still think he'd take you though.

Re: Mustang vs Eclipse

If the Eclipse is a manual it will take you every day of the week. If not then you might have a chance. You can build your v6 though too compete with Cobra's. As much as I am against v6 mustangs, I think they're a disgrace, but I know a guy who has built his v6. He's about to stroke the engine, and he's got TONS of mods.

Re: Mustang vs Eclipse

well two things to consider, the auto in the model of mustang likes to eat horsepower, almost like thats its job, and also the I4 in the eclipse has a lot better technology than ur 6 cylinder... dohc vs ohv. i think youll win tho, major hp and torque advantage. but idk with that auto, if u had a stick u would win no problem.

I doubt it. The turbo eclipses are way better than the na's. Thats where they build there power. v4? no they dont have a v4. i would like to know what car has a v4 motor in it though. Turbo eclipses are pretty damn fast with little mods. But they are hella heavy (around 3300-3400) those gens are anyway. I agree with v6 mustangs being a disgrace. A mustang didnt become the name it is because of the 2.3l or the v6. V8 all the way!

Re: Re: Re: Mustang vs Eclipse

dont worry about the race though. youll win definately. that turbo eclipse is also an auto so he can boost off the line. but with an na it wont matter. ull smoke him. cause it is a mustang.

if his is NA then you should win. oh btw...this was bothering me: someone already said I4, but that I4 only has one header, not headerS.

Saab Sonetts (late 60s/70s Saab sports car) had a V4.

Apparently they threw them in a few cars, because that isn't a sonnett. 1.5L/1500cc. They also came out with a 1700cc version in '70.

Here is a lovely v4 Sonett:

That is exactly like the one my dad had, down to the color. I'd love to have one. They're light as hell, under 2000lbs. Small, all fiberglass body, pretty boring interior, and unitbody.
Before the v4 they had a 2stroke, longitudally mounted 3 cylinder with triple side draft carbs. Both engines ran to 100km/hr in 12.5 seconds. Not bad for 60hp!
Over a decade(1966-1974), less than 15,000 were produced. Weight varied from 1,450lbs('66-'67), 1,550lbs('68-'69), to 1,900lbs('70-'74).
I'd love to get one and turbocharge or supercharge it, squeeze 150-200hp out of it.
