I need help
I have a 96 chevy blazer 4.3 v6 my problem is today I noticed some steam or smoke from my engine so I opened the hood and thought it was overheating but the steam was coming just behind the oil cap! I am stumped on this can someone help? I test drove it again and no engine lights are on no wierd noises it runs just fine air cond is recharged and heater works fine. There is no weird smell or nothing I noticed it comes from the passenger side under the hood. I took my blazer to firestone cause I thought is was the air cond but they said the air cond was fine and for me not to worry about the problem.

Re: I need help
Have you added oil recently? Maybe you spilled some on the manifold.
Check your oil level. Look around the bottom of the valve cover for signs of oil leakage. Check your coolant level. |

Re: I need help
Almost forgot, look at the lower part of the manifold where the Y pipe connects. Sometimes the insulation comes off the lower firewall and when it falls on the manifold it causes smoke.

I recently had my radiator flushed and oil changed at texaco but that was a week ago. They added that dex cool but it is really weird now that I check my coolant level and oil manifold like you said I noticed where the air cond motor is the plastic is real soft and broken like the engine got so hot it melted the plastic cover off real weird!

Re: I need help
Is the steam coming from a hose?
What side of the engine is it coming from?
