considering 91 jetta

Just wanted to get a little car just to shuffle me between work/school/home. Saw a little junker 91 jetta (flair edition) at my friend's dealer's lot. It's 5spd, with 260000 km on it.

What am I looking for / feeling for during test drives/walk arounds? And what's expected to die. This is a 12 year old car that looks like it's lived a hard life, but for 300cdn, i'm not asking much.

Rust doesn't look too bad, but i'm not vain anyway, the CV boots are awfully new looking, though. Taking a test drive tomorrow.

Re: considering 91 jetta

I had the large fuel pump last until 270,000 miles. Maybe yours is due soon too. The large bosch fuel filter should last at least 150K.
