Re: What have you replaced or broke with your Alero
Lets see - in two years (bought mine used with 34000 miles, now has 77,000), i've put on tires and brakes and replaced the blower motor. Can't complain much I guess.
From what I can calculate you drive about 33-34000 miles a year. Maybe you should have looked into one of those extended service plans that covers you to 100,000 miles, especially since you financed the car for six years. An extra $1200 or so on a $21,000 car isn't that bad in the big picture. All your problems more likely than not would have been covered then (except the brakes). Either way, sounds like you could be describing any car, not just an Alero, that gets driven 34,000 miles a year and is 3.25 years old. I'm sure that a 350Z wouldn't have given you any troubles at all.... : ) |

Maybe but I don't expect a car to have this many problems when it costs 21K... The extended warranty only covered from 36,000 to around 70 something K and cost over a grand.. What I know now I wouldn't have got rid of it.. But the car is known for certain problems and yet GM refuses to fix them free of charge... I'm just venting on my dumb decision to buy this car.........

I'm a regular fan of this site and I always check the alero page. I too owned a alero. I was always looking at what other problems people were having so I would know what to expect in the future. My Alero went through the "big 3" as the dealer put it. LIM Gasket, blower motor, and hazard warning swtich. I've personally had a bad luck with GM products, I previously owned a 98 Monte Carlo that was also plaqued by LIM Gasket and Faulty Fuel Injectors. I'll never ever, ever own another GM product as long as I live. That's my choice. Other people may choose to deal with there problems. But instead of pitching a fit about GM recalling the hunk of junk I unloaded the POS and it became somebody else's problem. If somebody really doesn't like the alero than maybe they should cut there ties and get something else.
