Thumbs up car won't turn off

read that this problem is normaly caused by bad ignition lock cylinder being bad. but tried new one did not solve problem. i read that have to remove steering column to reset actuator rod pin because it is two pieces is this a really hard thing to do. one more question all the stuff i read to remove steering COLUMN says i have to take steering wheel off can't see why have to remove steering but i am not the professional.any help would be helpful thanks JOSEPH PALMIERI

The only way to get into the housing below the steering wheel is to remove the steering wheel. So if the part you need to play with is inside that housing you have no other choice.

first *did not have to take steering wheel off . i did take column out all the way down to firewall there were some electrical connectors to seperate.took directional switch out two screws 2 connectors. took 8 nuts that hold column in place, let column rest on seat disconnect shift lock on column 4 screws than took bolt all the way out off steering knucle and pulled out column. *the piece that made this problem happen was a *pin *that hold a plastic rod that connects to the ignition switch& ignition lock cylinder the plastic peice is in two pieces. so i put pin back in place where it goes and put column back together put in car and it works fine.ps i do have a console shift which makes things a little easier.and i think it would be easier if you can find a column in used auto dealer if anbody needs help with this problem just send me amessage
