Re: Opinions on Speed Chip Upgrades

I don't deem them worth while.

All they do is advance the timing and usually increase the fuel injector pulse width.

You get better performance but a reduction in fuel economy.

Re: Opinions on Speed Chip Upgrades

Actually the MPG remains about the same, maybe even a slight increase BUT most chips are designed to be used with 93 octane so any gain would be eat up by the extra 20 cents per gallon.

Re: Opinions on Speed Chip Upgrades

Gas isn't that bad compared to other places, right now where I get gas it is:

$1.86......87
$1.96......89
$2.06......93

Other places are as high as:

$1.97.....87
$2.07.....89
$2.17.....93

It will go down some when all the damn yankees leave.

Re: Opinions on Speed Chip Upgrades

$1.959 for ethanol here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. $.02 more for regular. Premium hurts just to look at.

Re: Opinions on Speed Chip Upgrades

$1.86 for regular, $1.90 for mid grade and $1.96 for super here in So. Il. Not to bad by comparison. The prices would be cheaper if one guy didn't own 8 out of the 10 gas stations in town.
