Possible spray foam sound deadener?
Hey all...
I found this "DAPtex Plus with CoVinyl-X9000" stuff at Home Depot the other day, and I was wondering if it would make a decent sound deadener. It only expands 10% or so after it comes out, and it claims to go 510 feet in a 1/4" bead. Not bad for a $6 can IMO. It's also toolable and paintable. Water cleanup too. I figure I can paint it to make it completely waterproof. How thick should I apply it, and how close to my speakers should I get with it? How much of my door should I cover? Should I remove the plastic that's covering the cavity between the inner and outer metal panels? I figure it should get at least the front two doors, and maybe the rears too. Thanks! ~ D Last edited by Diceman83; 05-18-2005 at 11:54 PM. |

I think its worth a try, make sure u get one that doesn't expand that much, or spray in all the right places.
My friend sprayed some under his rear deck, and the one he got expanded alot, it leaked into his trunk piece and expanded and bent the metal. |
