Comedic Kill in My Brother's Car

Its not mine, so I shouldnt brag. However, I was just going to work 1 night, streets were DEAD (i go in at 10:30 PM). I'm sitting at the longest red light in history, when a Pretty modded Eclipse, I'd guess 96-98 pulls along side. I can hear his turbo spooling, I look over and he says in the traditional Fast and Furious, wanna go? I shrug in response, but its on. The light turns, he gets me on the launch, my front end is at his door. By the time i shift into second, we're side by side. At the end of 3rd, I'm a full car ahead of him. Race over... Oh, my brother drives a 350z, injen exhaust, injen intake. Was fun.

How do you hear his turbo spooling?

In neutral, if you rev a turbo car... it makes no boost cause it's under no load. The BOV barely makes a sound... so how do you hear the turbo spooling at a light?

I call

You can't hear mine unless I'm on it (in gear), by then it's usually too late.

I'm not into the shit throwing, but I'll entertain your question. I heard his turbo when he pulled up... He was coming off a side road, a turbo is a distinctive sound.

A turbo is a distinctive sound... yeah I know... I've got one too. Haven't driven the car in almost a month... but I know what it sounds like.

Maybe you heard the Blow off valve... as he was rolling up to the stop? That I can honestly believe. But not the turbo spooling, that indicates to me that he was accelerating long enough to hear the spoolage.

Re: Comedic Kill in My Brother's Car

So you're stopped at the longest red light in history, and the turbo in the car next to you is spooling...doesn't that mean he's accelerating? While he's stopping for a red light? Is that what is so comedic about this post?

Re: Comedic Kill in My Brother's Car

My WRX turbo spools in neutral. Only up to a few kPa, but it spins nonetheless. And I can hear it at stops when it's cold (once it warms up, it's silent even under full boost)

Cause its BS and no one likes BS! if we tollerate made up stories all the time then the thread is gonna loose its worth. I dont come here to gloat about my victories even though Ive posted to participate but I do come here to read and learn about what I like. If I start to read and believe BS then all I will have learned about in the end is BS........and no one should fuck with my education!

as for the story, its possible but It'd be hard to hear a turbo spooling like Red already indicated. specially if your sitting in a Z, those cars have such a nice exhaust tone that it would deffen out the sound of a turbo next to you.
