Question 350 V-8 in a 98 Monte

Greetings,

I am not a mechanic. This might be obvious already.

Right now my 98 Monte Carlo is a good reliable vehicle for getting me around. I love it. Ideally I would like to keep it forever.

I imagine someday I will inherit a couple Chevy pick-ups from the 70s. The bodies currently are beyond repair by me.

To keep the spirit alive I am wondering if I could ever cram one of my father's 350 V-8 engines into my 98 Monte.

Thanks,
SoDakMonte

Re: 350 V-8 in a 98 Monte

nope...

not without complete fabrication of the engine bay and a tranny tunnel to convert to rear wheel drive... this will also involve changing the rear suspension to be a rigid axle instead of independent... and converting the front suspension to normal non-powered spindles...

FAR FAR FAR too much work IMO...

If you are dead set on wanting to put a V8 in the car, your best bet would be something like the northstar caddy engines which are FWD v8's and trannies...

even then you'd have a lot of work on your hands getting it to fit...
