Anyone have problems with their late model Yukon Cat. convertor?
Just outside of warranty, my '02 sounds like its going to loose a rod!! I braved the sub-zero temps to get under there to find the source. I bang my hand on the passenger side convertor and recreate the noise. Seems like the 'guts' have crumbled and are rattling in there - sounds alot like a rod knock. This assembly includes 'y' pipe and 2 convertors. Dealer price $550 plus $40 core plus $35 in gaskets!! Plus $150 install. |

Of course the dealership didn't offer that, but I will be checking into it.
Thanks. |

Re: Catalytic convertor 2002 SLT 5.3
I called customer service and they helped me set up the appt. at the dealership. I will pay the diagnosis fee $60.00. They tell me if it is the convertor, it will be covered up to 80,000 miles.
They certainly did not offer this whem I called about the price of the part. They even asked the VIN and I complained about the low mileage on the truck. Thanks for the heads up! |

My Yukon is back now. Dealership replaced catalytic convertor assembly and oxygen sensor FREE of charge. They even waived the diagnostic fee of $60. This would have cost me $825 if I hadn't gotten the heads up.
Thanks sooo much!! **** emissions are covered to 80,000 miles **** |
