Z As My First Car

I'm looking to get the 350Z as my first car. Not only do I love the way they look, but everything about it suits me perfectly. I don't need anything faster than that yet I wouldn't be happy with anything slower. I don't need back seats to carry around loads of people since my bf has an SUV type car and not to mention I don't want alot of people in my car anyways messing it up. I also like it because I don't see them often like say, Altimas, Mustangs, and Civics.

I came here to get more information on them, like how they compare to other cars (from Civics, to 3 series BMWs, to the G35, etc). Whats good and bad about them, etc etc etc. Dealerships will only tell you so much as their only intention is to sell. I have 10 months until I am 16 which is when I hope to get this car. I have $7,000 saved up already and over the next 10 months I hope to get at LEAST $3,000 more saved ($10,000 in all). Any help on how I should go about buying a Z would be great. Used would be great too, as long as it's in good condition. I've asked dealerships about what I should do to buy one but they of course don't take me seriously and shun me asking for my Mom to come in.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Caitlin

PS. My friend who just turned 16 recently bought a NICE Lincoln LS (I've been in the car and confirmed that) for $13,000 off Ebay. Is Ebay a good place to go?

Re: Z As My First Car

Hi Caitlin, welcome to AF.

It looks like you've got great taste in cars. The 350Z is nice, but it may not be ideal for someone just starting out. It's also a little pricy. Even if you have the money for it, sometimes its better to start out with a cheaper car. You can always upgrade later, right? Anyway, that's just my advice.

I did a search on eBay in your general area, and came up with these results. It was just for any Nissan, but there are a few 350Zs in there.Click Here

The reason I searched for cars near you is because it's a lot easier to deal with eBay that way. If there's a car you're interested in, it wouldn't be too hard to go and look at it in person before making a decision.

I hope this helps you out a bit.

Re: Z As My First Car

Thats a big boys car, I advised against getting that as your first car. Well if you were my kid I wouldnt let ya get it lol. Young kids dont need that kind of power. Maybe look into getting a nice used car maybea civic or acura till you graduate high school then maybe you would like to invest in somthing a little more expensive.

Honestly, I understand your concern. Most teenagers aren't the best of drivers. But I would love to have this car. Oh also, "big boys car". I'm a girl. lOl I'm a very cautious driver (I drive like my Mom who's never had a speeding ticket or gotten in a wreck in her life) and my Mom's all for me getting this car (though she had an 8 cyl muscle car that could smoke the Z as her first car, haha).

Like I said, thanks for the advice but I did not come here asking about whether I should get it, I want to know ABOUT it. I'm not trying to be a bitch and I hope you all understand where I'm coming from.

Re: Z As My First Car

I know your a girl =)
And the car is great..I'm just being an old man.
But if you want speed it is the best bang for the buck,
unless say you wanted an SRT-4. I would take the G35 any day but thats just me.

I own a 350z Enthu. model, and I haven't had one single problem with the car. its a 2003. It has tons of power and the handling is on the pretty good side. I got this car as my second car. The first car I owned was a S2000. The 350z can't even be compared to a civic, a BMW is too heavy for me and it doesn't have much power. G35 has tons of power like the 350z but it wasn't the car for me. I test drove about 6 different cars when I bought my 350z and it was the best out of them all ( for me anyways ). The truth is...I say this alot, but if you want to buy a car, test drive it. That is the only way to know if that is the car for you. Ebay is a ok place to go but don't trust everyone. Ask about VIN numbers, and don't give that person a cent unless you go and see the car itself. ^^ hope this helped.
