no code...yet. I'm still trying to get my car to run. Now it fires, but it won't stay running. The timing is close, and you can smell plenty of fuel, but after just a few seconds, it dies out. I'm running out of things that could be wrong, and it seems to be down to the MAF or the prom.

Re: MAF test?

Have you checked your IAC, TPS and idle screw?. Also I read this method in my service manual but never tried it. It says if you tap on the flat part of the MAF while the engine engine is running. If it stumbles or stalls it is faulty

Re: MAF test?

not true, early TPI's were MAF. I had 3 Vette's that were TPI and MAF.

The only "test" that would be meaningful for you is to start the car with the MAF plugged in and note how it runs. Nest shut it off and disconnect the MAF and start it up and note how it runs...if it runs better with it unplugged..suspect the MAF. Next hook the MAF back up and run the car again..wait for closed loop then gently rap on the MAF housing with a plastic screwdriver handle and see if the idle quality changes..if it does, replace the MAF.
