Unhappy 1986 Cutlass Cierra - stalling/dying problems

Hi all. First time poster here, hope you all can help.

I was driving on the freeway when all of the sudden it felt like it slipped out of gear. The engine revved like I was neutral. Then after about 2 seconds it seemed to have caught itself. It happened once more before I parked it.

After a real basic check under the hood, I took off again. I stopped at the light, and when it turned green I tried to take off but the engine died. I still had power but had to restart the car.

I asked around and some people suggested I might have a transmission problem, but my roomate suggested revving while it was in park to see if it sputters and dies. I did, and the engine died. He's suggesting that it might be a fuel line problem.

Does anyone here have any ideas based off of what's happened? I would appreciate any feedback you folks have. Thanks a ton!
