Question 98 Windstar 3.0

This is going to be a little long winded but here it goes. Bought a 98 Windstar little over 2 yrs ago, had 76,000 miles on it.....ran great, etc. had a few minor issues to work out with it shortly after purchase but easily taken care of. Now the big issue. Back in the first week of December the oil pump went....had about 5 minutes warning to get it off the road before permenant damage...yeah right....spun the main bearings and twisted the the shaft for the oil pump....big mess....2 1/2 months later ( about 2 weeks ago) we get the van back.....running like crap and a 2002 motor with 56,000 miles on it....great deal for the price we paid....now running like crud and 2 days later we figure out that the cam positioning sensor is not hooked up....hookup and still running bad....backto the garage to find out that the whole sensor and all it twisted and torn inside and the cap is broke....2 hrs later to find out that the cap we need is from a merc. 3.0...alot of cross ref'ing to find this( van originally from Canada) get the cap and the old cam out of the old motor and no way to line up the cam....oknow we know #1 has to be TDC and the positioner has to be lined up also...fine lined up...now generating codes from the OBD II.....took it in and had new front O2 sensor put in....the van gets warm and now we get a P1131 code with fuel/ air metering malfunction ( the warmer it gets the more codes pop up)...checked the last of the 02 sensors and they are Ok....cant find a distinct direction to go from here...whick sensor or what it could be now....still think the timing is off but no codes pop up regaurding this( checked this in the shop) cant time it any better with out the "special" tool that only "Ford" has.....(nasty thought)...cant put a timing light on it.....help....cant afford to put much more money in this thing...
