5 Speed tranny conv. in a 99 auto Max
Yeah I'm new to the site, just looking for some info. I'm looking to buy a 99 automatic Max SE for $5500, private sale . The car is in great condition, runs good, with about 85k mi. (is this too good to be true?) I need to know what I would need to do a 5 speed conversion and about how much would it cost? Any help appreciated.

99 SE AUTO with 85k miles for 5500??? that seems really low...i would think more like 8 or even 9...check it out

Here's a write up on how to do the conversion. It takes a lot of time and a good bit of knowledge. If you can source a donor car, expect the cost to be around a grand.

It's not too bad. You just need to know a bit more than how to change your oil. If you pay someone else to do it, expect to pay at least a grand for labor alone. My weekend is worth about that much and besides, it's an opportunity to play with your car.

i'm glad my maxima's were manual from the factory.
that's a good lookin write up though, and i'd trust one of hal's write up more than most others.
