The latch mechanism is common to fail. Hopefully your's isn't broken & spraying some lubricant in it would free a possible stuck lock pawl.

Re: My Door Wont Close

If spraying lubricant on the latch doesn’t work then the spring that keep the door locked has broken their is no way of fixing it your going to have to buy one from the dealership because that’s the only place you can find one. Take it from me this happened to me on a long trip what a head ache had to keep my passenger busy by helping to keep the door closed good luck..

this happened to three of my doors and i found that if the lubricant alone didnt help that tapping (sometimes vigerously)on the three bolts around the latch will usually do the trick

Re: My Door Wont Close

if the locking mechanism is not locking around the pin (whatever the locking mechanism locks to on the door jam) that sticks out on the door frame, take some duct tape and wrap it around the pin. my door did not latch because the plasitc piece that is around the pin came off so I wrapped some tape around it go take up some of the gap again. I know, I know a ghetto fix. but try it.

if this does not work then your mechanism is shot.
