2000 Blazer Gas Gauge Fluctuations

When my gas tank gets below a half a tank, the gauge starts fluctuating between full and empty. It is acting very sporadic and inaccurate based on my observation of the odometer in relation to how much gas I am putting in at the pump. What would cause this gauge to act so inconsistently? Please advise.

thanx

Re: 2000 Blazer Gas Gauge Fluctuations

More than likely it is the sending unit back in the gas tank. You can run a search in the forum, it has been discussed quite a bit lately. the general concensus is, if you can figure out your tank level by mileage, go with it. Changing out the sending unit requires you to drop the tank, which can be a bit of a pita.
Search the forum using the search feature for gas gauge, and you will find lots of hits. Check the most recent, and I think it will answer any questions you may have.

There is probably 2 or 3 threads per page on this problem. Do a quick look and see which one best suits your problem.
