I am planning on getting my first sub and amp system soon, and I have my eyes on this:

Sony Xplod XM-1502SX 760w amp.
3 MTX Thunder 6000 subs 1500w Max in a sealed box

The subs I saw at Circuit City, and it was on sale for $340 for the 3 subs and the box that came with it. Looks very nice. It would cost over $600 if I would buy it all seperate (stupid idea). Any opinions on this setup?

The guy said that the box should take up most of the width, but should leave some room in the front.

The guy at circut city was pretty cool, he told me that all of the sony amps werent worth it, but the new one that came out, the 760w that i was talking about was pretty nice. He also showed me an MTX amp, but he said the new sony is better than that.

ya its a pretty nice deal for the subs, but he said that they only had one left, and its the one on the shelf. he said they are getting rid of that style and getting new ones in, so i was like damn, those were nice. the new ones are probably gonna be expensive.

he said they take 55 bucks for installation plus the wires and all that crap, so i think its worth it. better than having myself installing it, ill probably blow something. so thats what it looks like.

I have to check some other stores out though too

Not dissing on Circuit City stuff and I'm not too fond of Sony or MTX car audio stuff either, sorry, to each his own...but I've always had good experiences with Tweeter Home/Auto Entertainment. If it were me I'd prolly get a few JL subs and a Kenwood or Xtant amp. but thats just me

check out www.tweeter.com they got pretty good prices there, and you can always deal with these guys to get a lower price. I'm sure you can find something nice there, just my opinion, good luck :alien:

the new sony amp was $200. he said that all the other amps sony ams were shit and cant be used with powerful subs, but he said the new ones are pretty good, and people said they are good too. I dunno I never actually used it. It has a crossover and all inside it already, so i dont need a seperate equilizer and stuff. Its 760w, so thats pretty good.

damn, sorry about your experience with Tweeter, but I've always dealt with them and they always hook me up. I guess because I went there so much I got to know them pretty well Anyways if Tweeter is not in your book than I would go to a local shop also, you can get pretty good deals from them also. Good luck.

how expensive are the wires to install an amp and a sub for our car? the guy at circuit city said $55 + the wiring. One of my friends said his came up a total of $240 for installation, and he had an amp and like 2 subs. On average, how much is it?

i spent jus over $100 for all the wire needed to hook up an amp 4 subs and a crossover. this included 2 gauge power cable 15ft. anbout 12ft of 8 gauge speaker cable. plus the remote cable rcas, distributon block, the fuse thing for the front, and the clamps needed for the power cable. a 4 gauge amp kit at citcut city cost $100 so i got off really good considering i got 2 gauge plus the block fuses and wire for the crossover. jus look for little shops and be really friendly and talk with the guys. im sure theyll hook u up nicely. good luck
