need to replace head gasket
My 84 4cyl Fiero blew a head gasket and I don't have the money to take to mechanic so I'd like to do it myself. How hard is it to do and how do you do it? My water pump needs replacing to but its making a sqealing sound when running. Is that my pulley? I can buy a new one for $20 but requires my old pulley. Do I need to buy the whole kit with the pulley or can I use my old one? Thanks.

Re: need to replace head gasket
if you are going to replace a head gasket i suggest you by a $15. haynes manual well worth the price. as far as the squeal goes try a new belt but it may be the pump. good luck

Re: need to replace head gasket
I'm currently changing the cam on my 2.8 and head removal is a must. A haynes is very crucial and a torque wrench. This is my first cam change and anything of the sort so I would just get the right tools and follow the book. I isn't hard the hard part to me is vaccum lines.
