Re: Strut Bar
Ya they do make a difference. Rear ones you have to take off the little plastic covers in the hatch. The bar attaches the same way as the front one does then. You can take the little plastic covers and cut them or leave them off then.

Re: Strut Bar
Don't think so. A lot of people only use the front anyways. If you want to tighten up the frame and give more support, why not do it all is what I say to that. But the front will make a difference.
When I did mine, I got the front, rear, and lower tie bar all at once and there was a pretty significant difference. So I'm not sure how much just 1 will change, but I imagine it will.

Re: Strut Bar
Its not even the full panels. Look inside the hatch. There's right above the back wheels a little cut out on each side. I believe there's 4 screws holding these on. Take those off and the strut tower is right there. I tried to find a pic of mine but I actually don't have any of inside the hatch.

Re: Strut Bar
Here's Rickyricksters trunk
![]() The panels are taken off and you can see the rubber "boots" sitting on top of the strut tower. Bad pic I know but that's the best I could do on short notice

Re: Strut Bar
I have a little so say about strut bars. This is almost purely speculative, but I think a rear strut bar will aid in setting the car up with a little extra oversteer. I have read that getting a stiffer anti sway bar back there will give it a tick of oversteer as well as relatively stiffer springs i.e. a 400lb front/325 rear setup will oversteer a bit more than a 400front/300 rear will. I would assume the strut bar would be the same thing. When that time comes for me, I would (and will) get a rear bar for sure. Heres a good read for ya....
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=634403 I kinda wish gsxhooptie was still around, as I remember I like reading his posts.... |

Anyway i agree with thor 100%, go for both strut bars and drop it about an inch and a half. Question: what about weight reduction, how does getting rid of unnecesarry (or however you spell it) components affect the overall scheme?

Re: Strut Bar
Biggest thing for weight reduction will be over all rotating mass. This will have the biggest impact on acceleration more than stripping out the hatch or removing the passanger seat , glove box , etc...

Re: Strut Bar
Well, think about it... if you push on a 10 box with a force F and push on a 25 lb box with that same force F, which one is going to move faster? Same thing applies to cars, if you have two 300 hp DSMs but one has stripped interior, no AC, and a 1/4 tank of gas compared to a full weight, full tank car, the lighter one is obviously going to move faster.
