Unhappy Do I really need to replace timing belt

Hey ya'll...I have a 1992, 325I that just turned 100 thousand miles....have no problems at all...but I was informed by a close friend that I really need to replace the timing belt (never been changed before). Is this really necessary, or do you think i can squeeze several more lucky miles out of my current??? Thanks

you should definetly get it changed as soon as possible. do not wait. that is a critical part of your engine, if it breaks, could cause major damage to the engine.

I think some of them do have timing belts, my technician tells me so, mine has done 198000km and has been changed once, please can anyone advise on the next time it should be changed? Mine is a 93 316(E36) with an M40 engine. Thanks...

I think that the e36 325's have belts.. I'm pretty sure the 4cyls have chains.. at least I think mine (with the M42 engine) has one.
