Swapping 95 KA for 97 KA...

Hey whats up guys. Do any of you know if I can take a 97 S14 KA engine and put it in my 95. I know most of you will say yes, but I want to hear from experience because have my 95 and a wrecked 97. The 97 has a few differences, but my real concern is the small fuel filter/breather by the front of the intake that goes to a hard fuel line and that is not there on my 95. I will try to get pics because it is hard to explain, but it is a black filter type case. What would I do about this when I am swapping?

The only difference is that the 97 is OBD-II, nissanfanatic will know about the breather, probably installed by the previous owner or something, all I know is that I've heard it's much easier to tune OBD-I cars then OBD-II cars.

Yes, but I am not swapping the ecu, I am just swapping the engine, so it should be ok because it will still be OBD 1 right? And no the breather was not installed by the last owner, it is a factory setup. Not one of those cheap autozone things. It has nissan labeled on it too.

I'd say it'll be fine, just switching mechnaical parts over, like 99% sure it'll work, and I dunno about the breather...

I am 100% positive it will work and will guide you through the whole process if you want I have diagrams from vacume line differences and wireing differences and can tell you anything you possibly want to know when it comes to do it. I even have pictues I spent alot of time researching this because no one had answers the the questions you will ask along the way. I did a 97ka swap into my 95 over the past few weekends. With my help I could walk you through doing it in like 3 days or less.

Re: Swapping 95 KA for 97 KA...

Basicly just to get you a good start You'll need the wire harness that goes under the intake manifold from your old engine, you'll need the O2 sensor that goes into the exhaust manifold and you'll need the temp sensor. Then you need to remove the vacume lines off the intake on the 97 engine that are on the side and put plugs over them or just swap lower half of the intake. You need to keep the Throttle body off your 95 also because the TPS is different on 97 and 95 and the way they connect to the Throttle body is different so just swap it as one piece. The metal fuel lines RIGHT before the fuel rail needs to be swapped or you can just not use the extra lines that are there on a 97. That is PRETTY much it. I know there is a couple other things I had to switch over but that is the bulk just ask any other questions as you go along but that should get you off to a really good start

oh yea, and when you say wiring harness under the intake, do you mean that one wire with just black loom around it?
