2.8l to 4.3l s10 4x4 blazer swap question

I have a 1989 4x4 4.3l s10 blazer that has a bent frame. I can get a 87 4x4 2.8l blazer for free. I can swap every thing over, but my one question is do I need special motor mounts? or will the 4.3l motor mounts mount to the 2.8l frame? Thanks, Cory

You will need different mounts.

Have you done this swap? Will small block chevy mounts work? Will the exhaust manifolds clear the mounts?

No, I haven't done it.

If you want something that will plug right in, get a 3.4L out of a camaro.

I'm going to have to do more research on this. I've been told by three people that the frames are the same (one person did the swap).

- I did a junkyard parts search on the web for the frame and it doesn't say that there is any differance between them.

- In the jtr v8 conversion book it states that if you have a 2.2l frame all you have to do is put 2.8l motor mounts on the frame and then do the conversion.

-I took measurments from the mounting surface of the transmission to the motor mount bolts on the block on a sbc (being used for another project), then took measurements off of another 4.3l that I have (being used for this swap because it has new heads and all new gaskets), and then compaired them to the custom motor mount diagram in the jtr book for the 2.8l. I puts the mount all most right under the bolts for the bolt which is about were the 4.3l mounts are.

I'm not going to jump to conculsions, but I wouls say the frames are the same. I think its the mounts that are different between the 2.2l, 2.8l, 4.3l. Next step is off to the local junk yard with a tape measure. I update soon.
