"WHERE" can I find a replacement motor

I've tried to search but couldn't find any info. My sister has a 88 4dr DX. It blew a head gasket. I am not at all familiar with this motor and would like to know if replacing it would be more beneficial than rebuilding it. It has 120,000+ miles on it. Is there a company that sells it as a crate motor as does GM?

If it just has a blown head gasket, it'd be easier to just replace that. Much easier and cheaper.

Hey guys thanks for the input. i just found out that the head is cracked, and there may be some ring / cylinder wall damage. Looks like she may have to look in the replacement direction. Plus she is needs the car running in about 7 to 10 days. I suppose a good used engine isn't out of the question. Would e-bay be a viable source to find a servicable engine? Any select seller that I should be aware of??

Re: "WHERE" can I find a replacement motor

Ebay would be to slow - if you need it that fast you'll have to find one local in your area. You'd be looking at 7-10 days just for one to get shipped to you. Then on average of about 2 days for a shop to swap the motor. Maybe 1 day if they aren't very busy and can get on it quick. But ya - ebay would be out of the question IMO.

I agree with what they said that you should just fix the headgasket..but If you still need some good sites Try www.japanengine.com ..I've bought 2 motors from them and they're still running strong..good prices to. And I've heard only good things about www.hmotorsonline.com

Re: "WHERE" can I find a replacement motor

If you just need a replacement motor. I have a D15 for sale it would cost you $200 PLUS shipping. the motor only has 92,000 miles on it and was never raced around and oil changed every 3,000 miles since new. Shipping would cost anywhere from $100 to $175 depending on where you live. This motor would just be plug and play everything is there, all motor wiring and dist ect.. Im just trying to give you another way of finding a motor as a direct replacement for your current motor.
