502 in a 77 TA?
Hi, I've been thinking about buying a friends 77 TA that has a 400 in it that needs a complete rebuild. I plan to just use the car as a sunday driver and i was wondering if it would be possible to put in a 502 instead of just rebuilding the engine in there. I would be looking at the zz502 crate probably but i have also been thinking about just buying the block and building myself....any suggestions on how hard it would be to fit the engine in the car, and if it doesn't fit do you think i could put in a 454 or 455SD. thanks.

The 455 would fit no problem. There was very little change, as far as, engine compartment size from 79-81

They will both fit. The 455 is the same block size as the 400. Engine compartments have been the same size from 1970-1981. You'll need different mounts for the 455. |
