issue starting car

ok... situation: started car as i was leaving work, ran fine for about 10 seconds, started sputtering a bit, sputtered badly and died. tried to crank it over, and slowely it for the most part died (battery). left it over night. in the morning added oil, replaced starter, attempted to jumpstart for about 2 hours (dont ask) and it has a very hard time rolling over. my question, is it just a bad battery charge, or was the connection when attempting to jump bad the entire time? or what all could it be. any help would be very appreciated. had battery tested, no problems with it supposedly.

Re: issue starting car

altornator maybe? get the maf checked even better take it to advanced auto and get them to run a test on the car and see if you get back a code that would help...or you can keep guessing like the fuel pump bad plugs, distributer anything. its free for them to check your car also, good luck

Re: issue starting car

What year car?, what engines in it? and I think you should be able to jusge better than us if the connection was bad as we hadn't seen it. It sounds like something in the charging system isn't functioning properly to me.

lol did you leave your lights on? Na sounds like alt is messed not holding enough charge to turn it over. Just single out the obvious check to see if its getting fuel. If so go to a auto shop and get them to run a path finder test and see where your low voltage is coming from. My guess is alt.

Re: issue starting car

if you had your battery checked and its fine, the problem is not in the charging system. But from how you describe it, it sounds like a bad alternator. Who tested the battery? Did they do it right? Sounds like a dead battery due to a bad alternator. I've had the same problem twice.

Were the jumper cables connected properly? Did you give it a little time to charge before trying to turn it on?

Have two different places test the battery. Look inside your alternator to see if there are any broken plastic pieces...happened to me once.
