Re: turbo or no turbo

Yes it will fit and typically people consider the NA RX7 to be more reliable, yet slower.

Yes, It will fit. The downfall is that the transmissions on non-turbos are near their power handling limit, so besure to swap out the tranny as well. Also, non-turbos have been known to be more reliable and get halfway-decent gas mileage. Not as powerful as turbo (obviously), but they are still a blast to drive, though.

Re: turbo or no turbo

First off, let me tell you to do your homework before you buy a turbo engine and tranny for your car, thinking you could just put it in and go. It would be in your best interest to buy a donor car since rounding up all the turbo parts needed could take awhile and nickel and dime you to death. Read up on what all is needed

Re: turbo or no turbo

you can get better gas mileage out of a turbo engine if you stay out of boost.

Re: turbo or no turbo

If your going for turbo I would suggest buying a turbo car to begin with since there is alot of work to be done with the turbo swap.

Re: turbo or no turbo

I almost turboed an 86 GXL but decided to just buy an 87 Turbo. I sold my 86 and bought the 87 and the entire transaction didn't cost more than about $2000 (tops). I would have spent more than that just trying to get it working if I had swapped motors.

Plus the hood scoop is way cool!

Re: turbo or no turbo

i second that, i sold my 86 n/a for an 88 anni turbo, cost me 3000, but compared to spending more, and having a hacked car, its nothing.
