Cool 1996 jeep gc instrument cluster goes out when driving lights turned on

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have a 1996 jeep grand cherokee laredo and when i turn on the driving lights, the instrument cluster goes out. I have replaced the fused twice on the fuse box under the passenger side glove box area. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening. This has just recently started happening and I was hoping that someone would know or had it happen before. I am guessing that it might be a relay under the hood but I am not very sure. If anyone could assist me, I would greatly appreciate it. If you think it is the relay, please suggest a good store to purchase it from and where the relay might be located. Or, you could suggest a good link for me to go to. Thanks for reading and replying.

I have the same problem on mine.. when you turn the headlights on the displays all dim and the radio turns the bulb off.. if someone could guide me to the relay or suggest any common points that could cause this (I've got a '97 JGC Ltd.)

Could be faulty wiring. Mabey the realy, i dont know. All I know is that to the left of the headlight knob, ther is a side-to-side switch that controls the brightness of the cluster and dash lights. when that switch is in the farthest right position, all of the dash lights are off. all the way left, the lights are vright, and the cabin lights all go on. this could be , in conjuntion with faulty wiring, your problem. it could be a setting you accidently set, mabey. i dont know if that would hepl any, but you can always try. otherwise, like i always say, your local jeep dealership can most likely fix this problem.

Im not so techno savvy when i comes to the eclectronics, but i know a little.

I am happier using the stick on LEDs that I have at the moment rather than let those bloodsucking b*stards near my car again. The last electrical fault I had needed a single wire soldering and they charged me 9 hours diagnostic time.

Anyone got any suggestions on if there's a relay that's gone, or where to start looking for a wiring problem (what colour wires, where do I start??)
