I have a 2000 GA GT coupe and had an incident where it had to be taken in for repairs. It has never driven the same since then. It's been aligned, tires rotated w/proper air pressure & balanced, etc.
Anyways, on the receipt, it shows that they replaced the front right lower control arm without sport suspension. (They had the lower control arm with sport suspension deleted from the list & replaced it w/the 1 w/o sport suspension). It feels like I'm in a boat while I'm driving, especially changing lanes. It also rolls everytime I make a turn- sharp or just barely, no matter what speed. Could that be why? The control arm with support suspension is only $10 more than the one w/o sport suspension- but would that affect it performance wise? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I'm glad to be a new member! |

Hey there, it sounds like to me that is the problem. If you have a GT then you need the sport suspension control arm. Does the othere side have the sport control arm? because both sides should be the exact same, for example when someone replaces the front struts or say front brakes you always do both sides at the same time because if you dont and the two sides are different then your car rides different. This is just my opinion.

Thank you. Yeah, I thought it would make a difference- but feel a lot better with the feedback. The front driver's side lower control arm was not replaced. There weren't that many miles on it, but I am really picky and 'lana' (spelled backwards) about car stuff, and will get all of them replaced WITH the gt suspension soon. That makes perfect sense, almost like wearing mismatched socks or shoes. I remembered, I was really upset that nobody listened to me when I had my brake pads changed, that the whole axle set needed to be replaced. Thanks again! |

Re: front lower control arm question
I'm with jv on this!!!!!!!!! if one arm is sport, and the other isn't, you have an unbalanced suspension. If your GT has the sport suspension option, which most GT's do, you MUST have the sport arm installed!!!!!!!!!!
The difference between the two styles in monior, but but does the diff. show up in the driving!!!!!!!1 |
