Exclamation Vehicle Speed Sensor and "General Info" sticky

I just checked with a Ford dealership in TX and they say the VSS comes by itself with no extra gear that the sticky speaks of. Maybe this was OLD STOCK? In any case I wanted to let peoples know (especially wiswind) this as I had to order the gear separately from the VSS. My tire size is 215/70R15 and mine takes the 22 teeth/tooth (whatever) gear according to the guy I spoke with.

Re: Vehicle Speed Sensor and "General Info" sticky

I got that information from a FORD tech on the Flatratetech website forum.
I will check my sticky and verify the wording.
It sounds like changing the little nylon gear is pretty easy while you are changing the sensor.....but the whole process of getting at it is a real pain......well worth doing a complete job when going to all that trouble.

Hi, Not to put a blanket on your attempted repair, BUT, there is a nylon gear in the trans that drives the gear for the speed sensor, just HOPE that one is not worn also,,,,IT HAS HAPPENED,,, Good Luck, Clay...(retired ford trans tech)

My tranny has been rebuilt and ALL parts in it where supposed to have been replaced... so I should be good there. I have since gotten my van back YESTERDAY and after them replacing the VSS and gear with it my speedo operates MUCH MUCH more stable. I also had them replace the brake pressure switch under the MC, and the neutral safety switch (transaxle selector switch) and now she SHIFTS PERFECTLY... tight.... smooth.... no more herky jerky... and the CRUISE CONTROL WORKS AGAIN ! YIPPE ! First time its every worked since I owned it !

Keep that transmission fluid changed AT LEAST every 30K miles, and your transmission will thank you.

Damn right. Actually to stay within warranty I have to keep it changed every 12k. Thats fine by me as for all of this headache I've been going through I don't drive it a whole lot though it is my primary vehicle at the moment.
