Re: 94 740 il oil leak from bleading screw rear shock

I have a 1994 740 il also. In Dec. my mechanic called to my attention that my rear passenger side shock was wet/ leaking. However, it was not serious enough a leak to require immediate attention but something that would need attention in the future.
I'm not sure if that screw is adjustable but if it's not, plan on about $500 for the shock alone (probably cheaper if you can find it on the internet). Also there is a separate component that controls the shock leveling and a few other parts that you may need if you replace the shock. I was quoted an install price of about $1100 for one shock.
However, I'm told not to be too concerned until you see a puddle of fluid by the tire. By the way in case you didnt know, that fluid is power steering fluid. The power steering pump controls both the steering and the self-leveling shocks.
Also there is a shock conversion kit available to convert to standard shocks. Personally I'm going to stay with original system( I'm saving my pennies up currently).

Thanks for the info. The leak is getting worse!!. I checked online and found the shocks for $390 each. Thanks for the tip. Must keep my eye on the Power Steering oil levels. I wonder if i can change the current screwm( with a small hole inside) and use a blind screw?
