trim

I remember a while back a few guys were talking about the black bottom trim around the rear window eroding away. Just curious as to what you found best for fixing this up.

Re: trim

Does it have the nasty looking crap on it or is it actually deteriorating?
I know that on my integra the molding around the rear quarter glass had this nasty buildup. I used everything I could think of and nothing would get rid of it until one day I accidently got some 409 on it. The 409 will cut right through it, I had even tried some of that back to black stuff and that did almost nothing for it. But the 409 for some reason got it off.

Re: trim

There's a black plastic tape that's made specifically to cover up window trim when the plastic starts peeling away. I don't remember the brand name but I think it was made by 3m. It looks like electric tape but its stronger and it adheres better. They sell it at auto parts stores - you have to measure how wide your trim is because they sell it in different widths.

So the trim that he is talking about is metal and not rubber?
I was assuming that it was rubber.
