1993 Ford Taurus Help (Motor Mounts/Trans)
The car has been off the road for about one year because of a broken front motor mount i replaced it and passed NJ's awsome inspection (yeh). Anyways the car has been running very ruff and i need to drive this car until i fix my other one. The problem is, is that when i goto shift it into reverse the motor clunks down into a hard shift and you hear BANG from the motor hitting the frame or something of that nature. It wasn't that bad untill today when i guess i broke the camels back trying to do a hard acceleration onto a highway, the motor now moves alot foward when i am in drive holding the brake and tap the gas a little, and it shifts very hard, it is a Auto. And also for some reason now the Battery light is coming on. I figured i would ask you guys what might be the problem and the costly solution to this problem.
Thanks in advanced ~Rich

Not sure about the Taurus, but my Tempo was about $40 for the mount and about 30-40 minutes to change. I did however check around. The dealer would only sell the complete mount braket and all(suprise, suprise) and of course since the dealer would only sell the complete mount the junk yard wanted half of that ($140 d, $70 jy)
. I checked around and found an aftermarket parts dealer (similar to UAP/NAPA, but smaller) that would sell just the rubber mount .Good luck, Denis |
