96 bravada is whining/humming

My 96 bravada has a high pitched whining/humming when I accelerate but not when I coast. Any suggestions?

How could U-joints make a whinning noise? It is most likely the pump in the transmission. If you let your fluid run low because of a leak or something or if it hasn't been changed reguraly it can cause the pump to whine. My 96 does it until it shifts into overdrive. The fluid for some reason was low when I bought the thing but by the time I figured it out it was too late. I just turn up the radio and forget about it.

It could easily cause a humming noise on the road when accelerating.

I always thought that they clunked when they went bad. I never knew they whined. If you say so I'll agree with you.

Yip, and will also squeak, snap and all sorts of noises on acceleration.

Does it change with vehicle speed or remain constant?

Dumb question:
The high pitch whine isn't coming through the radio speakers is it?
