Clear Coat

Hi all,

Pardon me with my stupid question, I had searched a few forum but I still couldnt get a clear answer with my question.

By saying clear coat, is that a specific products to use for clear coating or can I use any color like CLEAR (I know, clear is not a color ), for example I have the Tamiya Acrylic X-22 and Testors Gloss Lacquer Overcoat, are these what I need to clear coat over my car body?

Please advise. TIA.

Re: Clear Coat

Yupp!
You can use both of these to clear coat a body, take care not to put them on the wrong base coat though.
Lacquer on lacquer
Enamel on enamel
Acrylics on acrylics
You can put enamel or acrylics on lacquer, acrylics on enamel but don't try to put lacquer on any of the others as it's to strong and will attack the other paints. For the best result on big areas do not mix different types of paint and/or in some cases don't even mix paint brands. Test on a scrap piece if you're about to do that.

Good luck!
