camshafts...

I was thinking about purchasing a camshaft off of pfyc.com, and i was wondering if anyone has tried them and was curious what they sound like, i kno they sound good on V-8's but i was unsure what they would sound like on a 3.8 V-6?

Also, what would be a good choice for an exaust system that would sound good and powerful??

Re: camshafts...

Also not sure how many miles you have ,but to keep from getting valve float, you might think about new LS1 valve springs and some new retainer's.

Yep,Id add those to your list. Also keep in mind that to big of a cam can also cause the computor to think you are getting missfire's (lope of the cam).

Re: camshafts...

Before you add a cam,it wouldnt hurt to look into getting a PCM,U-bend delete.

I take it you have a GT ??

Re: Re: camshafts...

I do have a GT, and regarding PCM i am a lil skeptical cause i hear they cause more damage than good. As far as the U-bend delete, i read a forum about it yesterday and i was considering doing it...

Thanks agian

What have you heard??Ive only heard nothing but good things about them and have never had a problem with mine...Ive got one of the first ones out and it's been in the car since 2001 from the grandprixstore and never a problem.

Re: camshafts...

Ive heard they can burn out your engine because the make it go to higher RPM then its supposed too, but ive never heard it from a GP owner, and like i said earlier you know enourmous amount about GP's so ill agree with you.

Also about the u-bend delete, were would i pick up a straight pipe like that? just any autozone type store?

Re: camshafts...

Take and print out the picture from that post that I had responded to.Take it with you to a custom exhaust shop and they should be able to make you one or you can buy one from the PFCY in the exhaust section, then have an exhaust shop install it for you.Make sure, before they do any welding to remove the O2,Ive heard of them getting burned up.

Re: Re: camshafts...

I was reading about the PCM and it says.. "More radical modifications (such as camshaft changes and head porting, etc.) should consult with Digital Horsepower Inc. technical assistance first."

is this just a disclaimer type thing? or should i really not put cams in, cause i would prefer cams over the PCM.
