2001 GA Headlight Adjustment
This might come off as a dumb question, but I am having trouble getting my headlights aimed properly. I know that there are 2 screws on each side, one for up down and the other for left right. What I want to know is, if there is a procedure for doing, I saw somewhere where it said something about, turning your head lights on about 30 feet from a wall, and adjust them that way. So I just need to know the procedure on aiming the lights.
Thanks |

Re: 2001 GA Headlight Adjustment
When I did mine, all I did was back out of my garage, close the door (the front of my car was about 10 feet from the door) and then my dad sat in the seat and gave me feedback while I turned the screws until we got em right. It only took like 15 minutes, and they turned out pretty much perfect. Just get someone to help you, do it at night, and you can pretty much eye em in.

Re: 2001 GA Headlight Adjustment
Thanks, so you want the lights shining straight out on the wall? or pointed down, in or what

Re: 2001 GA Headlight Adjustment
you want them pointing essentially straight ahead. If they're pointed down, they won't light far enough ahead - if they're pointed in, they'll be crossed too much and won't light up a sufficient area / might be aimed into opposite traffic's eyes. You should line up straight ahead, so that you can draw an imaginary line that's level and not yawing either way from the light to the light spot on the door. They should be pointing dead straight ahead. If you can't get em dead straight ahead, then I guess pointing inward slightly would be better then pointing outwards. But try for dead straight.

Re: 2001 GA Headlight Adjustment
Ok I about got it, I got the drivers side light straight ahead, but the passenger side is a different story. I run out of adjustment before I can get the light level and straight ahead. Maxed out it points down a little bit and to the right a little bit

Hmmm... dunno what to tell ya. You're FEP panel might be out of whack a little bit. Trying bending it around on the passenger side to see if you can get the light lined up right. That'd be the only thing I could think of.

Re: 2001 GA Headlight Adjustment
The idea is that the top od the light spot to be the same height as the headlight (bulb), also you'll be more acurate @ 30' then @ 10; just out the car on a level surface with a wall, so the car isnt slanted, you could use a measuring tape to measure the height of the bulb from the ground and the mark off that height on the wall.
Edit: Ridenour; Amon Amarth kick ass! |
