Suicide hood?

hey just curious if anyone has any information on how to make a suicide hood or a flip hood.

I wouldnt call it suicide. Doors are called suicide because if your lateches F up the doors fly off (not that that would happen, but hey we are imagining here) a hood that opens like that would actually be safer. the air flow over the hood would keep the hood down instead of making it pop up like conventional hoods would.
but anyway, i personally like the old split hoods that the old dodges and Infinity trucks had.

i was thinkin bout doin the split hood, just afraid of it leakin perhaps when it rains...o well i figure somethin out

I heard that doors that open out at the front were called "suicide" because back in the Mafia days you might "acidentally" get thrown from the backseat easily, should the door come open somehow. Of course this would easliy be explained as an accident since noone would ever WANT to push you out a car, moving at high speed, when you haven't been making payments on your loans.

The above post is pretty close to what the nickname was all about. Opening a "suicide" door at-speed would be like tying a parachute to your arm, throwing you out of the moving vehicle.
If anything, I'd see about adapting an old Saab 900 hood assembly to your car...

weld hinges on the insdie front of the hood and place the lacth in the rear.....take it to a body shop and have them do it for you b/c this is not something a novice should do...
