My dealer wants to charge $200.00 to change the light bulb that backlights my computer on my '93 740 IL. Sounds like a lot of $$$ to change a lightbulb...even for a BMW. There must be a way to get to this myself. Any help is appreciated

Yup, there is a way and it'll cost you every bit of $10 or so. Gale's page at http://www.nmia.com/~dgnrg/page_2.htm has the instructions. It's about 1/2 way down the page with various OBC (On-Board Computer) stuff.
Notes: -Make sure to heed the bit about using the right bulbs because the BMW computers have the wrong part number loaded. Otherwise, you'll be doing it again before long. -Near the top it says to remove the dash trim. This is not necessary. Later on it shows you that can just slide the trim to the right to get it out of the way. -If you disconnect the radio you'll need to know the radio code to get it going again. |
